REMNANTS

Everything here was something else first.

You already know this feeling.

The moment you pick something up that eveyone walked past and think – I cannot throw this away. There is still something here.
The artists represented in this room  followed that instinct for years before you arrived.

Discarded metal. Reclaimed wood. A wine bottle.
Nothing here started as art material.
Everything here became it.

Every price is visible.
Every piece has a story you can access.
Every artist keeps what their work is worth.

You are exactly who this was made for.

Five artists.
One room.
Built with intention.

Oiro Meshack

Meshack Oiro (b. 1981, Nairobi) is a leading figure in Kenya’s contemporary art scene, known for transforming discarded metal into dynamic, sustainable sculptures.

His innovative mixed-media approach, dubbed the “biker movement,” captures motion and energy through what he calls “Piki Piki magic.”

From outdoor monuments to indoor installations, his works breathe new life into forgotten materials while expressing powerful human and animal narratives.

Elna Ankware

Elnah is a rising Kenyan printmaker whose hand-carved works transform upcycled Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF) boards into layered, poetic narratives.

Her prints capture the quiet rhythms of everyday life, preserving memories and untold stories through a mindful, slow-made process that honors both craft and the environment.

Each piece is intentionally created, reflecting her commitment to sustainability, storytelling, and the beauty found in ordinary moments.

Dennis Muraguri

Dennis Muraguri (b. 1980, Naivasha) is a celebrated Nairobi-based multimedia artist renowned for his vibrant explorations of urban life. A graduate of Buru Buru Institute and a long-time resident of Kuona Trust, Muraguri transforms recycled wood and metal into compelling sculptures that critique industrialization.

His iconic, matatu-inspired work has cemented his status as one of Kenya’s foremost artists, turning reclaimed materials into profound cultural commentary.

Ndunde Bulimo

Ndunde Bulimo is a rising Kenyan artist whose evocative woodcut prints are created through a low-waste, hand-carved process using Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF), a compressed wood material made from recycled wood fibers.

Her work transforms these everyday materials into bold, layered compositions that spark conversation and invite new ways of thinking.

Robert Ludenyo

A talented rising artist, Robert creates striking sculptural statements exploring identity, memory, and cultural heritage through form, texture, and material. Influenced by psychology, inner worlds, and craft traditions, his practice working with clay, plasticine, plaster, and reclaimed wood evokes connection, resilience, and self-reflection.

His thoughtful use of reclaimed materials also reflects a quiet environmental consciousness, adding depth to work that bridges personal and collective memory.

Curator's Collection
