Art Story

This original woodcut print by Ndunde Bulimo captures the iconic “Face Me” vehicle, once a common sight on Kenyan roads. Named for its side-facing seats that had passengers facing one another, the Face Me embodied the chaos and community of up-country travel: luggage stacked in the middle and on the roof, children carried freely, and sometimes even animals along for the ride. Rendered in Bulimo’s rich, textured style using locally sourced materials, this piece preserves a humorous, nostalgic slice of Kenyan everyday life while celebrating collective memory and sustainable art.

*Part of StudioShop’s eco-conscious collection, created using a low-waste woodcut process, hand-carved on reusable boards*
